This is an every rider for themselves race with some tough climbs and a slightly longer distance. Normally a flat start with some early drafting before the cobbled climbs start to split people up. Responding to requests, we held our first Women's Race this week, with almost 50 riders ona flat course to make it all abot the drafting and the sprint. Looks like it was a great race with the first 8 finishing within 1 second of each other. Congrats to Ewa Leja from Wyre as the top womens racer this year. As I type this the women are just recovering from their efforts in our first ever women's race. Initial feedback seems to be that it was a great success. I will get to compiling those results tomorrow, but that gives me time to report the team standings after Heroes Week. Results after Heroes Week

After 7 weeks of racing, the Kick Off races, the Time Trial and now the 5 Head-to-Head Races for each team, we have the current team standings: Standings after week 7 So Rochdale have a perfect score so far at the top of the table, and Wyre are only behind them from the results onm the Kick Off Races. The last of the Head-to-Heads. Jose Antonio from Serpentine took the win but it was Nic Browne who was MVP and scored the most points. Rider Scores However, the Barbarains recruiting from all over the North West got enough riders involved such that they drew level with the number of completions. By 1 rider! So Lucy, Doug and Miranda may have come in as the last 3, but they made the difference! Those last couple of riders drew the Barbarians level So that's it for the head

A really well attended race as we near the business end of the competition. Rochdale dominated the top spots with A Watty leading a group of 7 home in the lead. It was Anthony Watson just behing him who was the MVP. Great performance from Suzie Taroni for Trident - certainly someone to watch in next week's Heroes race. A lot of riders! Again, with numbers and performances, Rochdale score maximum points, but Trident do well to get the 9 points with their A Team. Big scores

A tight finish as Dan Waller, the Mersey Captain squeaked over the line just ahead of Lee Bawxter from Tri Lakeland. However, by virtue of age, Lee Baxter was the biggest points socrer in this race. Chappers from Tri Fit puled clear despite the cpoure being designed to support those who can draft. However, Paul Lupton from Bolton was the MVP scoring the most rider points. The Greater London Flat course was chosen by one of the Captains to create some close racing. Phil Ellison was able to just pip Jonny Winward from Wyre at the finish and the results seem to suggest there were a series of sprints between the various groups. Ewa Leja from Wyre continued her consistent strong point scoring for Wyre. Rider positions - Adapted v Wyre As ever, Wyre turn up in numbers and race strongly, so it is no surprise to see them getting top spot in the Team

Just the 6 riders from Chester in this race, but they took 6 of the 7 top places in this race. It was Nigel Smith from Chester who finished first, clear of the rest and scored the most points. Special mention to Victoria Moody-Smith from Total who made it into the A team for them. Chester dominate the top of the sheet Good numbers from Total mean that their A-Team matches Chester in points scored. Total numbers make the difference.

One of the advantages of havign all the races on the same course is that we can compile some comparisons. So just for your interest: MVPs in Week 6 Here are the highest point scorers in Week 6. These take how many riders yuo beat, and then add bonus points for age and gender. Quickest We can look at who was quickest over the course. Cummulative Scores And rewarding the combination of performance and consistency, we can look at the top point scorers after the first 6 weeks.

Well done to Ryan Snee and Phil Ellison from Adapted who took the top two places in this race. The next 4 all finished within 1 second of each other, so it looks like there was quite a scrap for the bronze medal. Bolton v Adapted The Bolton team always bring out a great Female squad - so they might be the dark horses for a big score in Week 9. This looks like it was quiote a race. About 14 riders in the group sprinting for the win. Great to see Sophie Billingham from Mersey making it into that final sprint with this very quick bunch. She scored some big points for Mersey. But it a A WATTY from Rochdale who edged out Dan Waller the Mersey Captain for the win. It was Andrew Napper from Mersey who was the MVP though - scoring 64.4 points. Rochdale v Mersey results This was a big race, with Rochdale getting 6 team

In the final sprint in this race 2 Barbarians and 2 Trident riders fought it out, with Ian Elsby representing the Barbarians coming out on top. However, the MVP for this race was Suzie Taroni, and second was Anna Bradley both from Trident. Good to see that almost a 3rd of the riders in this race were women. Another tight one. Alex Pearson from Serpentine beat Lee Baxter from Lakeland across the line by a quarter of a second. This course looks like it threw up some close finishes. Never mind, Lee - by virtue of being older you end up as MVP for this race! Special mention too for Helena Hines from Serpentine who was the fastest female racer. Just a quarter of a second in it!
