Transition Phase - the big reset
The 5x55 target is set for 2022, so time to get out there and smash it? Maybe not.
With one season over and a new target set it is easy to blast off enthusiastically, only to fade later. Bodies and minds need time to recover so we've planned a 2 week period after the last race of 2021 where our athlete only exercises when they want to. Run and cycle only for personal enjoyment with no other targets.
That out of the way, we then plan a 2 week Transition Phase which gets the athlete's body and mind back into the rhythm of training 6 days a week but without great intensity in the sessions. Focus, energy and commitment are going to be needed throughout the winter training nights ahead, so for now let's make sure that body and mind are as recovered and as good a shape as possible.
