On the 7th January we had Race 2 to Kick Off the 2026 racing series and it was another brilliantly supported event with 96 riders completing the identical course to Race 1. With their being back to back races to kick off the series, we saw some hardy souls competing in their second race in 2 days.
Again, the course required a hard start to allow groups to form and with only a small climb early on, a big effort followed by some very tactical racing culminating in a huge sprint at the end for glory. Well done to everyone who took part.
Jonny Windward from Wyre took the gold medal, dropping his club-mate Paul Jagger (who was also the first over 50 home) at the finish. Craig Venske from Rochdale topped the power charts with a Normalised Power for the event of 361w. The polkadot jersey must be in the sights of Jack Barton of Tri Lakeland who managed a 30s effort at 7.3w/kg during the event (although he only weight about 3 ounces!).
Well done to Ella Carter from Bolton who was the first female home. Congrats also to Phil Greenwood from Wyre who topped the 60+ charts.

We are now beginning to pull together the format for the full race series, and shortly the first Clubs League Table will be published.
